Aongatete Camp 2016!

Wow what an adventure the past week has been! Room 1 students conquered the 9 hour Big Walk In with positivity and gusto, skilfully navigated their way through NZ bush in the orienteering venture, and gracefully rock hopped through the refreshingly cold up and down river challenges. Needless to say, we all had a blast!

A big shout out to our parent helpers who, without complaint, went above and beyond to make sure our campers were feed and entertained. Camp doesn't happen without you, and I know Room 1 students are extremely grateful for your time and effort. Also a huge thank you to Mr Aspden who lead us through a successful camp, and graciously shared his knowledge and wisdom along the way.

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend and spend time recuperating from a jammed pack week.

Bring on the second half of term 1!

When in doubt, act like a cat.

Team Work!

We are hitting two birds with one stone this unit of inquiry, our amazing summative task will take place during camp. Room 1 students will need to demonstrate their understanding of our central idea and lines of inquiry through their actions at camp.

Below is evidence of some sneaky summative task practice!
Communicating, problem solving, supporting, positive attitudes and working together.

Turangawaewae- a place where we stand strong!

Getting ready for camp...

Today we talked about wearing appropriate clothing for our BIG WALK IN. We learnt about the importance of wearing merino as a base layer, checking labels to make sure our clothing is made of the right material and that COTTON IS ROTTEN.

Can you tell the difference? One pair is woollen, the other is cotton.

Kane wearing a warm, cozy polar fleece made with 100% polyester.
Checking Hayley's jacket- is it water proof?

The drying test- one is merino, one is cotton. Which will dry faster?

THE GREEN KIA KAHA WARRIORS

On Friday the 26th of February Room 1 participated in the infamous super six baseball tournament.
We didn't win, BUT we did we look fabulous!
